In 1971 some hundred hippies took over a deserted military base in the middle of Copenhagen. They created an alternative society and named it “Christiania – The Freetown”. In 2003, the Danish government decided to “normalize” the area. In Once Upon A Town, the filmmaker obtains unique access to both the police and the Christianites and follows low-key characters in high tension conflicts.
