This is a portrait of Toumane Diabate, a griot and master of the African harp, the kora. Diabate reveres his tradition but recognizes the need for innovation. He compares the Boulevard de l'independence in Bamako, Mali as a metaphor for his music, being a road through which all destinations in Africa can be accessed.
