Many Native Americans who live on remote reservations struggle daily with isolation and limited employment opportunities. In in a harsh and resource-poor environment, homelessness, poverty and addiction are a reality. The US Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that over 300,000 Native Americans are homeless or are living in substandard housing conditions.
The Red Feather Development Group aims to put an end to the housing shortage and to rebuild these eroding communities. Using the abundant resources of wheat-straw and people, tribal members learn how to build straw bale houses and explore and sustainable solutions for the future.
